UNESCO Green Citizens, Pathfinders for Change Exhibition Opens at Headquarters

An opening ceremony for an exhibition titled “UNESCO Green Citizens — Pathfinders for Change” will be held at 6 p.m. on Monday, 22 February 2016, in the Visitors’ Lobby.  The exhibit is organized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), SIPA Press and the Klorane Institute.  It is endorsed by UNESCO.

During the ceremony, remarks will be made by Armelle Arrou, Head of Special Events, UNESCO; Florence Guillaume, Director of the Klorane Institute; and Paul Marnef, Director-General of SIPA Press.  Marie-Paule Roudil, Director of the UNESCO Liaison Office in New York, will serve as master of ceremonies at the event.

Through images and text, the photo exhibition presents eight projects developed in small communities in Nicaragua, Japan, France, United States, Vanuatu, India, Senegal, and Egypt.  Each project showcases how education and the transmission of knowledge contribute to sustainable development in a way that meets the communities’ needs without compromising their natural resources and thus preserving their future.

Pathfinders for Change is part of UNESCO Green Citizens, an initiative launched in 2015 with the aim to share experiences that focus on education for sustainable development.

The men and women portrayed in this travelling exhibition are indeed “pathfinders for change”.  They have stepped into the limelight to serve as examples to enable all to become good citizens of the planet and make the right choices for a viable world.
