New Permanent Representative of Malta Presents Credentials

The new Permanent Representative of Malta to the United Nations, Carmelo Inguanez, presented his credentials to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon today.

Prior to his appointment, from 2013, Mr. Inguanez was Malta’s Ambassador to Tunisia.  Between 2011 and 2013, he served as Ambassador to Italy and San Marino, and concurrently, to the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and United Nations agencies in Rome.  Previously, from 2009, he served as Ambassador to the Russian Federation.  A career diplomat, he held several posts within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, most recently from 2006 as Director General of European and Economic Affairs, and from 2003 as Director of Protocol and Consular Services.

Mr. Inguanez holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Malta, a Master of Arts in Public Management from Université Libre de Bruxelles, in Belgium, and a post-graduate certificate from Ecole Nationale d’Administration, in France.  He also completed the post-graduate foreign service programme at the University of Oxford, in the United Kingdom.

Born on 19 December 1961, he is married with three children.
