Secretary-General Mourns Egypt Plane Crash Victims, Sends ‘Heartfelt Condolences’ to People, Government of Russian Federation

The following statement was issued today by the Spokesman for UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon:

The Secretary-General has learned with deep sadness of the crash today of a Russian passenger plane in Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula, killing all 224 passengers and crew on board.

The Secretary-General sends his heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and to the people and Government of the Russian Federation.
