Secretary-General appoints Juan-Miguel Diez of Mexico Director of United Nations Information Centre in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago
United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon is pleased to announce the appointment of Juan-Miguel Diez of Mexico as Director of the United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago.
The Information Centre covers Antigua and Barbuda, Aruba, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, the Netherlands Antilles, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname and Trinidad and Tobago. Mr. Diez assumed his new duties on 1 December 2014.
Mr. Diez most recently held the position of Acting Director of the United Nations Information Centre in Mexico City, Mexico, from December 2013 to November 2014, where he also served as Deputy Director from September 2006 to November 2013 and as National Information Officer from April 1997 to August 2006.
Prior to joining the United Nations, Mr. Diez worked in Mexico as a news reporter and producer with Television Azteca and as a writer, editor and reporter for El Inversionista and El Heraldo de Mexico.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in communications science from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México.
