New Permanent Representative of United Kingdom Presents Credentials

The new Permanent Representative of the United Kingdom to the United Nations, Matthew Rycroft, presented his credentials to Deputy Secretary-General Jan Eliasson today.
Prior to his appointment, Mr. Rycroft served as Chief Operating Officer of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office of his country, from 2011 to 2014. He was the Office’s Europe Director from 2008 to 2011, and Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina from 2005 to 2008. From 2002 to 2004, he was Private Secretary for Foreign Affairs to the Prime Minister.
Mr. Rycroft, who joined the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in 1989, also held a variety of other positions in the Office and at his country’s embassies in the United States and France.
He is married with three daughters.
