Security Council 2140 (2014) Sanctions Committee Meets with Yemen,
Members of Gulf Cooperation Council
On 30 April, at its first formal meeting, the Security Council Committee established pursuant to resolution 2140 (2014) initiated a dialogue, pursuant to paragraph 19(f) of the resolution, with the representatives to the United Nations of Yemen and the member countries of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC) — namely, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. A representative of the GCC organization also participated in the meeting.
Members of the Committee agreed that the dialogue was useful and that it should continue. They also looked forward to meeting, in the following week, with the Panel of Experts tasked with, inter alia, gathering, examining and analysing information regarding the implementation of the measures decided in resolution 2140 (2014), in particular incidents of undermining the political transition in Yemen.
