Independent Audit Advisory Committee Holds Twenty-Seventh Session

 

at New York Headquarters, 9-12 July


The Independent Audit Advisory Committee of the United Nations (IAAC) held its twenty-seventh session from 9 to 12 July 2014.  Presiding over the session, held at United Nations Headquarters in New York, was the Chairman, J. Christopher Mihm.  All the other members of the IAAC, namely, John F.S. Muwanga (Vice-Chairman), Patricia X. Arriagada Villouta, Natalia A. Bocharova, and Maria Gracia M. Pulido Tan, were in attendance.


The IAAC’s deliberations included inter-alia meetings with:


  1. The Secretary-General, to update him on the work of the IAAC and on other matters of mutual interest.
  1. Chandramouli Ramanathan, Deputy Controller, on the status of implementation of the International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS) in the Secretariat.
  1. Ernesto Baca, Assistant Secretary-General, Enterprise Resource Planning (Umoja), on the status of implementation of the Umoja Project.
  1. Michael Adlerstein, Assistant Secretary-General, Executive Director of the Capital Master Plan, on behalf of Yukio Takasu, the Under-Secretary-General for Management, on the progress that the Administration has made with respect to the implementation of the accountability resolution including the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) and on the status of implementation of oversight bodies’ recommendations including any apparent trends.
  1. Carman Lapointe, Under-Secretary-General for Internal Oversight Services (OIOS), regarding a wide range of matters, including: (i) operational constraints; (ii) the status of vacant posts; (iii) status of the pilot project on public disclosure of internal audit reports; (iv) the status of work plan implementation-planned vs. actual; v) the funding arrangement of OIOS; (vi) the programme impact pathways together with the key performance indicators; (vii) the status of implementation of ERM in OIOS.

The next (twenty-eighth) session of the IAAC is scheduled for 10-12 December 2014 at United Nations Headquarters in New York.
