General Assembly Decides to Include Financing of New Peacekeeping
Mission in Agenda for Current Session
The General Assembly decided unanimously today to include the financing of the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) on its agenda for the sixty-eighth session.
Acting in response to a note by the Secretary-General (document A/68/234) requesting the item’s inclusion on the agenda, the Assembly decided to allocate the item to its Fifth Committee (Administrative and Budgetary).
The Assembly further decided to waive the relevant provision of rule 40 of the Rules of Procedure, which would require a meeting of the General Committee on the question of including the additional agenda item.
In other business, the Assembly decided to take note of information contained in document A/68/716/Add.9, in which the Secretary-General informed the President of the General Assembly that Tonga had made the payment necessary to reduce its arrears below the amount specified in Article 19 of the United Nations Charter.
The General Assembly will meet again at a date to be announced.
