New Permanent Observer of La Francophonie Presents Letter of Appointment

The new Permanent Observer of La Francophonie to the United Nations, Paul R. Tiendrebeogo, today presented his letter of appointment to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.

Prior to his appointment, Mr. Tiendrebeogo was the Permanent Representative of Burkina Faso in Vienna, Austria, accredited also to Croatia, Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Slovenia.  From 2008 to 2011, he served as the Deputy Permanent Representative of Burkina Faso to the United Nations in New York City.

Between 2007 and 2008, he was Ambassador and Diplomatic Adviser to the President of Burkina Faso in Ouagadougou.  From 2003 to 2007, he was Director of International Organizations in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, having previously served, between 2002 and 2003, as Counselor in the Ministry’s Department of Research and Planning.

Between 2001 and 2002, he was the Technical Advisor to the Minister at the Ministry of Regional Integration.

He was educated at the Institut de Relations Internationales du Cameroun in Yaoundé, Institute Universitaire de Hautes Etudes Internationales in Geneva, Switzerland and Ecole Supérieure de Droit, Université de Ouagadougou, in Burkina Faso.

Born in Laye, Burkina Faso on 11 February, 1962, Mr. Tiendrebeogo is married with three children.
