New Permanent Observer of Holy See Presents Letter of Appointment

The new Permanent Observer of the Holy See to the United Nations, Bernardito Auza, presented his letter of appointment to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon today.
He received his appointment in July 2014, the same month he was named Permanent Observer of the Holy See to the Organization of American States. Mr. Auza was ordained Titular Archbishop of Suacia in July 2009, having been appointed Apostolic Nuncio to Haiti in May 2008.
He also has served in the Secretariat of State in the Vatican, after having been Apostolic Nunciature in Madagascar, Bulgaria and Albania.
Ordained as a priest for the Diocese of Tagbilaran in June 1985, he was incardinated to the then newly-formed Diocese of Talibon in 1986, and entered the Diplomatic Service of the Holy See in 1990.
Mr. Auza holds a doctorate degree in theology.
He was born on 10 June 1959 in Talibon, Philippines.
