New Permanent Representative of Egypt Presents Credentials

The new Permanent Representative of Egypt to the United Nations, Amr Abdellatif Aboulatta, presented his credentials to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on 4 September 2014.


Since September 2013, Mr. Abdellatif has been Assistant Foreign Minister and Head of the Diplomatic Personnel Department of his country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.  Prior to that, he was Assistant Foreign Minister and Permanent Representative of Egypt to the League of Arab States.


From September 2008 to August 2012, Mr. Abdellatif was Egypt’s Ambassador to Jordan, after a one-year stint as Deputy Assistant for International Political Affairs and the United Nations of the Minister for Foreign Affairs.


From 2002 to 2006, he was Egypt’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York, following postings as a Counsellor at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and at the Egyptian Embassy in Washington, D.C.


Mr. Abdellatif has a Masters of Arts degree from the International Institute of Public Administration in Paris.  He is fluent in Arabic, French and English.


Married with one daughter, he was born on 10 November 1957 in Giza.
