Biographical Note
NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF MAURITANIA PRESENTS CREDENTIALS

The new Permanent Representative of Mauritania to the United Nations, Sidi Mohamed Boubacar, presented his credentials to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon today.
Prior to his latest appointment, Mr. Boubacar was his country’s Ambassador to Egypt between 2010 and 2014, Spain from 2007 to 2010, and France from 2001 until 2004.
Mr. Boubacar served two terms as Prime Minister, from 2005 to 2007, and from 1992 to 1998. He was also Directeur de Cabinet in the Office of the President of the Republic from 2001 to 2004, and General Secretary from 1998 to 2001.
Prior to becoming Minister for Finance between 1990 and 1992, he held the positions of Budget Director from 1986 to 1990, and Director of Treasury and Public Accounts from 1984 until 1986.
Mr. Boubacar graduated from the Lycée National de Nouakchott in 1976, and earned a diploma in financial management from the École Nationale d’Administration in 1980. He received a post-graduate diploma in economic law from the Université Orléans, France, in 1981.
Born in 1957, in Atar, Mauritania, he is married and has four children.
