Secretary-General Concerned over ‘Wave of Violence’ in Bangladesh,
Urges Restraint, Dialogue Ahead of Elections
The following statement was issued today by the Spokesperson for UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon:
The Secretary-General has been following with concern the recent wave of violence in Bangladesh that has claimed lives and left many injured. He calls on all concerned to respect the rule of law, exercise restraint and to express their views peacefully. The Secretary-General is hopeful that the recent steps to initiate dialogue continue, and he urges all parties to ensure an environment conducive to credible and peaceful elections.
