Secretary-General Saddened by Fatal San Francisco Crash-Landing
The following statement was issued on 7 July by the Spokesperson for UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon:
The Secretary-General was saddened to learn about the crash-landing of an Asiana Airlines aircraft in San Francisco, California.
The Secretary-General expresses his deepest condolences and sympathy to the families who lost their loved ones, injured and all those affected by the accident. His thoughts go to the Government and people of the Republic of Korea. At the same time, he also conveys his sympathy to the Government and people of the People’s Republic of China, home to most of the casualties.
The Secretary-General also appreciates the quick and effective response by the United States authorities that helped minimize the casualties.
