Secretary-General Appoints Stephen Cutts of United Kingdom

 

Assistant Secretary-General for Central Support Services

 


United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon announced today the appointment of Stephen Cutts of the United Kingdom as Assistant Secretary-General for the Office of Central Support Services in the Department of Management.  He will replace Warren Sach, to whom the Secretary-General and the Under-Secretary-General for Management are grateful for his commitment and dedicated service to the Organization.


Mr. Cutts brings with him wide-ranging experience in international organizations focusing on delivering results and overseeing major reforms leading to improved effectiveness and efficiency.  Since May 2010, he has served as Assistant Secretary-General for Corporate Affairs at the Commonwealth Secretariat, with oversight responsibilities for finance and administration, strategic planning and human resources.


Prior to joining the Commonwealth Secretariat in 2008 as Director of the Strategic Planning and Evaluation Division, Mr. Cutts was the Executive Director of the Africa Initiative at INSEAD Business School.  He held various progressively responsible positions in the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development and in the civil service of the United Kingdom.


Born in 1964, Mr. Cutts holds an Executive Master of Business Administration from INSEAD and a first class honours degree in English literature and American studies from the University of Keele.
