united nations releases 2014 multilingual calendAr app
The new, multilingual version of the popular iPhone app “United Nations Calendar of Observances: Making a Difference” is now available for free.
Responding to user feedback from around the world, the app functions in three United Nations official languages: Chinese, English and Spanish. Arabic, French and Russian, as well as Indonesian, are forthcoming in early 2014. The app can be downloaded through https://unp.un.org/calendar. An Android version is in development for release also early next year.
Featuring all United Nations observances, the 2014 UN calendar app, which can be fully integrated into a user’s native iPhone calendar, illustrates the breadth of the Organization’s activities around the world. The app provides interactive features relating to United Nations achievements and links to videos and websites, along with options for sharing information via e-mail and social media.
The app is a collaborative effort in software development, translation, research and graphic design between staff across the Department of Public Information and United Nations online volunteers.
