Youth Forum on ‘Making a Difference’ to Mark Third Anniversary
of United Nations Academic Impact, 18 November
On 18 November, in observance of the third anniversary of the United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI), students from the tri-state area will attend a youth forum, the focus of which will be “Making a difference”. The meeting will take place at the Economic and Social Council Chamber, from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Youth representatives attending the event will be from Monmouth University, Lehigh University, the Global Education Motivators, CityKids and East Stroudsburg High School. University students from around the world interning at United Nations Headquarters will also join.
Among the special guests interacting with youth representatives will be Ahmad Alhendawi, the Secretary-General’s Envoy on Youth, and Noorjahan Akbar, co-founder of Young Women for Change and the 2013 Glamour Magazine College Woman of the Year. Maggie Betts, Director and Producer of The Carrier, a documentary about HIV/AIDS in Africa, will also be present and answer questions from youth representatives.

UNAI, launched by the Secretary-General on 18 November 2010, is a global initiative that aligns institutions of higher learning and research with the United Nations in actively supporting 10 universally accepted principles, including in the areas of peace and security, human rights, and sustainable development. It currently has nearly 1,000 members in some 120 countries (http://outreach.un.org/unai).
