Secretary-General Congratulates President-CEO, Korean Broadcasting System
for Emmy Directorate Award, 40 Years of Outstanding Work
Following is the text of UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon’s video message to Dr. Kim In-Kyu, President and CEO of the Korean Broadcasting System on receiving the International Emmy Directorate Award, 11 November:
I am pleased to congratulate the recipient of the 2012 International Emmy Directorate Award, Dr. Kim In-Kyu, President and CEO of the Korean Broadcasting System (KBS).
More than 20 years ago, our paths crossed in Washington. I worked at the Korean embassy. Dr. Kim was a KBS correspondent.
I saw then what you recognize tonight. A man of vision committed to deepening global understanding within Korea and sharing Korea’s diverse stories across Asia and around the world.
He has done it for 40 years through quality programming, distinctive broadcasting and leadership, not only at KBS, but the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union.
Congratulations once again, Dr. Kim. And thank you for your outstanding work.
