Secretary-General Saddened by Passing of Crown Prince
Nayef bin Abdulaziz al-Saud of Saudi Arabia
The following statement was issued on 16 June by the Spokesperson for UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon:
The Secretary-General is saddened to learn of the passing away today of Crown Prince Nayef bin Abdulaziz al-Saud, who was also Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior of Saudi Arabia. Crown Prince Nayef devoted his life to promoting the security of Saudi Arabia. He also made a major contribution to the recent establishment of the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Centre in Saudi Arabia. The Secretary-General conveys his condolences to The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz al-Saud, and to the people of Saudi Arabia.
