Violence ‘in All Its Forms, by All Parties’ to Cease Immediately
The following statement was issued today by the Spokesperson for Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon:
The Secretary-General condemns the terrorist bomb attacks in the cities of Idlib and Damascus which took place today and on 27 April 2012, killing and injuring scores of people. While noting improvements in areas where United Nations monitors are deployed, the Secretary-General remains gravely concerned by reports of continued violence, killing and abuses in Syria in recent days. He calls for armed violence in all its forms by all parties to cease immediately and full cooperation of all parties with the work of UNSMIS (United Nations Supervision Mission in the Syrian Arab Republic) as it expands its presence on the ground.
