Sixth Committee Elects Bureau for Sixty-Seventh General Assembly Session
The General Assembly’s Sixth Committee (Legal) today elected Yuriy A. Sergeyev ( Ukraine) as Chair for its sixty-seventh session.
Elected by acclamation, Mr. Sergeyev has been Ukraine’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations since 2007, having previously served as his country’s Ambassador to France and Permanent Representative to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in Paris.
Also elected by acclamation were Martin Huth ( Germany), Gonzalo Bonifaz ( Peru) and Ismail Chekkori ( Morocco) as Vice-Chairs. Hernán Salinas Burgos ( Chile), the outgoing Chair, said the Group of Asia-Pacific States had requested more time before issuing nominating a candidate for Rapporteur. That election would take place at a date to be announced, he added.
