New Permanent Representative of Pakistan Presents Credentials

Masood Khan, the new Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the United Nations, today presented his credentials to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.

Prior to his latest appointment, Mr. Khan was Ambassador to China since September 2008, having previously served as Permanent Representative to the United Nations and other International Organizations in Geneva from March 2005 until September 2008.

Between August 2003 and March 2005, he was Director General (United Nations) at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Islamabad, where he previously served as Director General in charge of Disarmament from September 2003 to May 2004.  He was the Ministry’s Spokesman from June 2003 until March 2005.

Mr. Khan’s overseas postings include time in Beijing (1982-1986), The Hague (1986-1989), Washington, D.C. (1997-2002) and previous term at Pakistan’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York (1993-1997).

He is married and has three children.
