New Permanent Representative of Mongolia Presents Credentials

The new Permanent Representative of Mongolia to the United Nations, Od Och, presented his credentials today to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.

Until his latest appointment, Mr. Och served as Foreign Policy Adviser to the Prime Minister of Mongolia from 2009 to May 2012.  He was Director of the Administrative Department in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade from 2008 to 2009.  Between 2004 and 2008, Mr. Och was a national protection officer with the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.

Having joined the Foreign Ministry in 1991, he served as an attaché, as well as Third, Second and First Secretary before becoming Director of the Legal Department in 2004.

Mr. Och earned a master’s degree in law, with a major in international criminal justice, from Kyushu University, Japan, in 2002, and holds a bachelor’s degree from Moscow State Institute of International Relations.

Born in 1967, he is married and has two children.
