Secretary-General Commends Kyrgyzstan on Peaceful Presidential Elections

 

The following statement was issued today by the Spokesperson for UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon:

The Secretary-General commends the people of Kyrgyzstan for conducting the presidential elections on 30 October in a peaceful manner.  He encourages all political forces to work together to ensure the stable post-electoral development of the country.  The Secretary-General wishes to assure the people of Kyrgyzstan of the continued support of the United Nations, including through the efforts of his Special Representative, Miroslav Jenča, and the United Nations country team.
