Secretary-General Welcomes Holding of Brussels Round Table
by Partners of Central African Republic
The following statement was issued today by the Spokesperson for UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon:
The Secretary-General welcomes the holding of the round table of the partners of the Central African Republic on 16 and 17 June 2011 in Brussels and commends the Peacebuilding Commission, the World Bank, the United Nations Development Programme and the African Development Bank for supporting the Government of the Central African Republic in organizing this important event.
The Secretary-General appeals to partners to continue to support the Central African Republic in the implementation of its comprehensive Poverty Reduction Strategy towards addressing its peacebuilding and socio-economic development challenges. He calls on the Government of the Central African Republic to continue to build a strong, sustainable and meaningful partnership with the international community. The Secretary-General also reaffirms United Nations support as the country forges ahead with security and governance reforms to improve the quality of life for the people of the Central African Republic.
