Security Council 1988 Committee Adopts Guidelines for Conduct of Its Work

 

On 30 November 2011, the Security Council Committee established pursuant to resolution 1988 (2011) adopted Guidelines for the Conduct of its Work.  The Guidelines were adopted in compliance with paragraph 26 of Security Council resolution 1988 (2011), which urged the Committee “to ensure that there are fair and clear procedures for the conduct of its work” and directed it to establish guidelines accordingly.

The Committee trusts that the Guidelines will facilitate the conduct of its own work and provide useful guidance to Member States in their efforts to implement Security Council resolution 1988 (2011).  The English language version of the Guidelines is available on the Committee’s website (http://www.un.org/sc/committees/1988/pdf/1988_committee_guidelines.pdf) and versions of the Guidelines in all six official languages will be made available on the website shortly.
