New Permanent Representative of Bahrain Presents Credentials

The new Permanent Representative of Bahrain to the United Nations, Jamal Fares Alrowaiei, presented his credentials to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon today.
Before his appointment, Mr. Alrowaiei was the Deputy Permanent Representative since 2008. He was previously an Adviser in the Executive Office of the Minister for Foreign Affairs from 2005 to 2008, a position he also held between 1996 and 2001.
From 2001 to 2005, Mr. Alrowaiei was a Political Officer in Bahrain’s Embassy in Washington, D.C. He started his diplomatic career as a political analyst in the Research and Studies Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, having joined the foreign service in 1995.
Mr. Alrowaiei obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in literature from the University of Bahrain.
Born on 3 August 1971 in Riffa, Bahrain, he is single.
