New Permanent Representative of Czech Republic Presents Credentials

The new Permanent Representative of the Czech Republic to the United Nations, Edita Hrda, today presented her credentials to United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.


Prior to her appointment, Ms. Hrda held many positions in the Czech Republic’s Ministry for Foreign Affairs, which she first joined in 1992.  From 2006 until assuming her new post, she was Director-General of the Minister’s Section.  From 2006 to 2007, she was Director-General of the Economic and Cultural Section.  Prior to that, she was Director of the American Department and Director of Multilateral Economic Affairs (2004–2005).  From 1999 to 2003, she was her country’s Ambassador to Argentina and Paraguay.


She studied trade, management and informatics at the University of Economics in Prague (1982–1989), and completed post-graduate studies in international relations at the Diplomatic Academy in Madrid (1992).


Ms. Hrda is proficient in German, Spanish, English, Russian and French.


Born on 30 December 1963 in Prague, Ms. Hrda is married with one child.
