Secretary-General Applauds Peaceful Elections in United Republic of Tanzania

 

The following statement was issued today by the Spokesperson for UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon:

The Secretary-General congratulates the people of the United Republic of Tanzania for the peaceful conclusion of the recent general elections following today’s confirmation of the official results.  He commends the relevant electoral authorities, the parties and political leaders who demonstrated in these elections their commitment to peace and democracy.
