Dialogue in Chile’s ‘Mapuche’ Crisis
The following statement was issued today by the Spokesperson for UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon:
The Secretary-General has been following closely developments regarding the hunger strike of imprisoned indigenous people (Mapuche) in Chile. He recognizes the efforts of the Government and welcomes the resumption of dialogue to resolve the current crisis. He encourages all actors to remain engaged in order to find a solution as soon as possible and to avoid the loss of human life.
