United Nations International School to Hold Graduation Ceremony on 2 June,

With Former UNICEF Chief Carol Bellamy Delivering Commencement Address

The graduation ceremony for the Class of 2010 of the United Nations International School (UNIS) will take place at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, 2 June, in the United Nations General Assembly Hall, with Carol Bellamy, Chair of the Board of Directors of the Education for All/Fast Track Initiative global partnership and former Executive Director of UNICEF, addressing the graduating seniors.  Ms. Bellamy has also served as Director of the Unites States Peace Corps and President of the New York City Council.

On the verge of leaving UNIS for more than 85 of the world’s finest universities in eight countries and 20 of the United States, the students are equipped with the prestigious International Baccalaureate, the best secondary-level preparation the world has to offer.  Representing 55 nationalities and speaking a total of 36 mother tongues, more than half of the 126 graduates are affiliated with the United Nations community.

UNIS students have had the privilege of daily exposure to a wide range of world cultures through social interaction with peers and instruction from a faculty that represents 28 countries.  The school offers a balanced and rigorous educational programme, with classes in nine languages and emphasis on community service and the importance of the arts in daily living.  As a result, UNIS students develop values and understanding that prepare them to become true citizens of the world.
