Photo Exhibit to Mark International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers
In observance of the International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers, 29 May, a multimedia exhibit will be open to the public from 28 May to 25 August in the North-East Gallery of the Visitors Lobby of United Nations Headquarters.
The exhibit, entitled “Ayiti Kanpe” (Haiti Standing), pays tribute to the Haitian population and the peacekeepers that lost their lives as a result of the 12 January earthquake. It also highlights the ongoing contribution by the United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH) to the country’s recovery.
The exhibit will feature photos by the United Nations photographers in Haiti: Logan Abassi, Marco Dormino and Sophia Paris, as well as videos and interviews produced by the Mission’s TV crew: Ngolo Diarra, Blagoje Grujic, Sandra Miller and Amelia Shaw, and edited by Frank Swanson.
This exhibition is sponsored by the United Nations Departments of Peacekeeping Operations, Field Support and Public Information, as well as the Permanent Missions of Brazil and Canada to the United Nations.
