Exhibit Entitled ‘The Reflective Mirror’, Showcasing Artwork by Women,
Opens 22 February at United Nations Headquarters
An art exhibit will be launched today, Monday, 22 February, in the South Gallery of the Visitors Lobby at United Nations Headquarters. The exhibit, entitled “The Reflective Mirror” showcases an international collection of artworks by women.
Most of the artists represented are from Arab countries. Their work is an expression of womanhood and a testimony to the empowerment of women in their countries. The artworks on display include photographs, paintings, video installations and sculptures.
This exhibition is designed as a side event of the Economic and Social Council special event on “Engaging Philanthropy to Promote Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment”. This special event, jointly organized by the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, the United Nations Office for Partnerships and the Committee Encouraging Corporate Philanthropy, will focus on the unequal access women and girls have to education, health care, food, jobs, property and decision-making powers in the political, social and business sectors.
The Reflective Mirror is co-organized by the Art Exchange Program of Her Highness Sheikha Manal Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Women Establishment and the United Nations Office for Partnerships.
