Biographical Note
Chitsaka Chipaziwa of Zimbabwe Chair of Fourth Committee
Chitsaka Chipaziwa, Permanent Representative of Zimbabwe to the United Nations, was elected Chair of the Fourth Committee (Special Political and Decolonization) on 27 August 2010. (See Press Release GA/SPD/447)
Mr Chipaziwa became his country’s Permanent Representative in New York on 13 August 2010. Prior to that, since 2003, Mr. Chipaziwa served as Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations and other international organizations, in Geneva, Switzerland. From 1996 to 2003, he served as Ambassador to Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Brunei, Cambodia and Viet Nam. For two years prior to that appointment, he was the Deputy Head of Mission in Pretoria, South Africa.
Mr. Chipaziwa holds an undergraduate degree from George Washington University, United States. He pursued graduate work in international relations, development studies and business at McGill University and Carleton University in Canada, as well as at the University of South Australia.
Born in 1953, Mr. Chipaziwa is married and has three children.
