New Permanent Representative of Bolivia Presents Credentials

Pablo Solón, the new Permanent Representative of Bolivia to the United Nations, today presented his credentials to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.
Prior to his appointment, Mr. Solón was Deputy Permanent Representative and Chargé d’Affaires from 2008 to 2009. He is currently Bolivia’s Special Ambassador for issues concerning Integration and Trade.
Mr. Solón was Secretary Pro Tempore to the Union of South American Nations (UNASUR) during Bolivia’s presidency, from December 2006 to May 2008, having served as President Evo Morales’ delegate to the Strategic Reflection Committee for South American Integration in 2006. He was the Andean spokesman for the Pillar of Cooperation in the Andean Community of Nations–European Union (CAN-EU) negotiations from 2007 to 2008.
From 1997 to 2005, Mr. Solón was Executive Director of the Solón Foundation.
He was educated at the Universidad Mayor de San Andrés in La Paz.
Born in Bolivia in August 1958, Mr. Solón is married and has two children.
