New Permanent Representative of Kuwait Presents Credentials

Mansour Ayyad Al-Otaibi, the new Permanent Representative of Kuwait to the United Nations, today presented his credentials to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.
Prior to his appointment, Mr. Al-Otaibi was Minister Plenipotentiary and Director of the International Organizations Department in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 2007.
Mr. Al-Otaibi held various positions at the Permanent Mission in New York between 1992 and 2006, including Counsellor and Deputy Permanent Representative (2004-2006); First Secretary (2001-2003); Second Secretary (1996-2001); Third Secretary (1993-1996); and Diplomatic Attaché (1992-1993).
Before joining the Mission he was Diplomatic Attaché at his country’s Embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from 1990 to 1991, having served in the same capacity in the Foreign Ministry’s Arab World Department until 1990, after joining Kuwait’s diplomatic service in November 1989.
Mr. Al-Otaibi holds a Bachelor of Arts in political science and administration from Kuwait University.
Born in Kuwait on 9 December 1966, he is married and has three children.
