SECRETARY-GENERAL CONCERNED BY RECENT VIOLENCE IN BORDER AREA BETWEEN CHAD, SUDAN
The following statement was issued today by the Spokesperson for UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon:
The Secretary-General is concerned by recent violence and tensions in the border area between Chad and the Sudan and calls on all parties to cease fighting. He underscores that there is no military solution to the situation in the subregion and urges the Governments of Chad and the Sudan to refrain from any act that may lead to a further escalation of tensions.
