SECRETARY-GENERAL DEEPLY SADDENED BY DEATHS, INJURIES

 

CAUSED BY BUSHFIRES IN AUSTRALIA

 

The following statement was issued today by the Spokesperson for UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon:

The Secretary-General is deeply saddened about the deaths and injuries of hundreds of people as a result of bushfires in the state of Victoria in Australia.  He extends his deepest condolences to the families of those who have been killed or injured in the fires.
