Secretary-General hails promotion of cooperation between cities, efforts to bridge
digital divide, in message for world e-government mayors’ forum
Following is the text of UN Secretary-GeneralBan Ki-moon’s video message for the World e-Government Mayors’ Forum in Seoul, from 7 to 9 July:
You have gathered to discuss a topic of increasing importance. E-Governance can help us make public service and administration more efficient and transparent. In this way, it can help us enhance the quality of life for all citizens.
By promoting cooperation between cities, by sharing examples of good e-government practices, by working to bridge the digital divide, you are constructive and innovative allies of the United Nations.
I hope your Forum will produce bold results, and that you will continue to meet regularly, for the benefit of city-dwellers around the world.
