Secretary-General extends congratulations to General Assembly president-elect

 

The following statement on the election of Miguel d’Escoto as President of the General Assembly was issued today by the Spokesperson for UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon:

The Secretary-General warmly congratulates His Excellency Mr. Miguel d’Escoto Brockmann on his election as President of the sixty-third session of the General Assembly.  He looks forward to working closely with Mr. D’Escoto throughout the next session of the General Assembly in bringing United Nations Member States together to respond effectively to the global challenges on its agenda, which are critically important to the lives of people around the world.
