DEDICATED, TALENTED INDIVIDUALS NEEDED, SAYS SECRETARY-GENERAL, MARKING

ANNIVERSARY OF UNITED NATIONS ACTIVITIES IN PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION

Following is the text of UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon’s video message on the sixtieth anniversary of United Nations Activities in Public Administration today, 6 March:

Since graduating from university almost four decades ago, I have dedicated my life to public service.  It has been the most rewarding of career choices.  Today, the world confronts even more complex challenges than my generation did when we started out.  From good governance to climate change and the Millennium Development Goals, the world needs dedicated and talented individuals to make public service their life.  I encourage young people everywhere to actively consider this choice.  The life you choose today can help build better lives for millions of others tomorrow.
