SECURITY COUNCIL 1591 COMMITTEE on sudan ADOPTS AMENDED GUIDELINES
On 27 December 2007, the Security Council Committee established pursuant to resolution 1591 (2005) concerning the Sudan adopted amended guidelines for the conduct of its work, in order to incorporate the de-listing procedure outlined in resolution 1730 (2006).
Among other purposes, the guidelines, originally adopted on 26 March 2006, serve to facilitate the implementation of the targeted sanctions (travel ban and assets freeze) imposed by subparagraphs 3(d) and 3(e) of resolution 1591 (2005). All States are obliged to prevent the travel and freeze the assets of designated individuals in accordance with these subparagraphs. Exceptions to the measures are provided for in subparagraphs 3(f) and 3(g) of the same resolution.
