DPI LAUNCHES UNITED NATIONS DAILY NEWS FEED ON INTERNET
The News and Media Division of the United Nations Department of Public Information now offers broadcast-quality video for easy download from the Internet.
The service, called UNifeed, is available for free at www.unmultimedia.org/tv/unifeed/.
UNifeed consists of three to six stories a day, with sound bites and natural sound, accompanied by short lists and scripts that can be adapted into local languages.
It is a new way for TV broadcasters to access news material from the United Nations system around the world through a single source.
UNifeed on the Web has been tested and very well-received. It has proven itself to be reliably accurate and relevant, and will interest not only TV correspondents but also print reporters whose websites may now be using video.
UNifeed was created in 2005 by the Department of Public Information and the United Nations Children’s Fund in response to the growing global demand for timely video material with an international focus. It is also supported by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, the World Bank and the Department of Peacekeeping Operations.
