Biographical Note
NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF PAKISTAN PRESENTS CREDENTIALS

The new Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the United Nations, Abdullah Hussain Haroon, presented his credentials today to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.
Prior to his appointment, Mr. Haroon was a Karachi-based political leader, businessman and social activist. From 1999 to 2004, he was President of the Pakistan-China Business Forum, serving also as Chairman of Griffith College in Karachi from 1999 to 2005. He was a Director on the Board of the Karachi Electric Supply Corporation from 1997 to 1999, and a member of the Board of Governors of the Institute of Business Administration ( Karachi University) from 1996 to 1999.
Between 1980 and 1982, Mr. Haroon was a Trustee of the Karachi Port Trust, Chairman of the Finance Committee of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) from 1979 to 1981, and a KMC Councillor from 1979 to 1985.
Mr. Haroon was born on 21 October 1953.
