Biographical Note
New permanent representative of GABON presents credentials

The new Permanent Representative of Gabon to the United Nations, Emmanuel Issoze-Ngondet, presented his credentials to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon today.
Prior to his new appointment, Mr. Issoze-Ngondet was Gabon’s Ambassador to Kenya, resident in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, from August 2007. Starting in June 2006, he served concurrently as Ambassador to Ethiopia, Permanent Representative to the African Union and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), both based in Addis Ababa, and to the Nairobi-based United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).
Between 2004 and 2006, Mr. Issoze-Ngondet was Ambassador to the Philippines, with residence in Seoul, Republic of Korea, where he served in the same capacity from 2000. Between 2003 and 2006, he also served as Ambassador to Thailand, resident in Seoul.
From 1998 until 2000, he was Director for Europe in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, before which he was Director for America from 1997. Prior to that, he was First Counsellor at Gabon’s Embassy in Bonn, Germany, from 1994, and held a similar position in Ottawa, Canada, from 1993 to 1994, and in the United Kingdom from 1991 to 1993.
Mr. Issoze-Ngondet also served as Cultural Counsellor at his country’s Embassy in Yaoundé, Cameroon, from 1990 to 1991 and as Studies Officer in the Foreign Minister’s Division of Treaties and International Conventions from 1988 to 1990. He joined the Ministry as a Counsellor in 1988.
He holds a master’s degree in public law and political science from the University Centre of Political Science and Development in Libreville, Gabon, and a post-graduate diploma in diplomacy from Libreville’s Ecole Nationale d’Administration.
Born in Makokou, Gabon, in 1961, Mr. Issoze-Ngondet is married and has five children.
