Biographical Note
New permanent representative of MARSHALL ISLANDS presents credentials

The new Permanent Representative of the Marshall Islands to the United Nations, Phillip H. Muller, presented his credentials to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon today.
Prior to his appointment, Mr. Muller was in private business, having previously held several Cabinet portfolios, including appointments as Minister for Foreign Affairs (1994-1999), Minister of Education (1986-1994) and Minister-in-Assistance to the President (1984-1986).
Mr. Muller was elected to Parliament in 1994 and served there until 1999. Between 1982 and 1984, he was the Marshall Islands’ Deputy Secretary of Foreign Affairs, and from 1980 to 1982 he was Director of Youth Services.
He was educated at Rockhurst College in Kansas City, Missouri, United States, and at Xavier High School in Chuuk, Federated States of Micronesia.
Born on 2 January 1956, Mr. Muller is married and has four children.
