NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF DEMOCRATIC PEOPLE’S

 

REPUBLIC OF KOREA PRESENTS CREDENTIALS

The new Permanent Representative of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea to the United Nations, Sin Son Ho, today presented his credentials to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.

Prior to his appointment, Mr. Sin had been Director-General of his country’s Foreign Ministry since 2003, after serving for three years as an Ambassador in his country’s Mission to the United Nations.  Earlier, he served as Deputy-Director of the Foreign Ministry from 1995 to 1999 and as Counsellor in the Embassy to Zimbabwe from 1990 to 1995. 

From 1986 to 1990, Mr. Sin was Division Chief in the Foreign Ministry, after serving from 1983 to 1986 as Counsellor in the Embassy to Lesotho.  Previous to that, he was a Senior Officer in the Foreign Ministry, from 1979 to 1983, and served from 1972 to 1979 as the Third Secretary in the Embassy to Egypt.

A 1972 graduate of Kim Il Sung University in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Mr. Sin has been awarded a number of his country’s orders and medals. 

Born 5 July 1948, he is married with two children.
