ACTIVITIES OF SECRETARY-GENERAL IN WASHINGTON, D.C., 20 JUNE

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon travelled to Washington, D.C., on Wednesday, 20 June, to meet with United States congressional leaders.

Amongst others, he held meetings with Senators Norm Coleman (R-Minnesota), Bill Nelson (D-Florida) and George Voinovich (R-Ohio). He also had a luncheon meeting with Congressman Tom Lantos (D-California). The meetings focused on United Nations-United States relations, including funding; United Nations reforms; peacekeeping operations; and Darfur, Kosovo and Haiti.

The Secretary-General returned to New York late on Wednesday afternoon.
