SECRETARY-GENERAL APPOINTS MAX GAYLARD of Australia AS DEPUTY SPECIAL COORDINATOR
FOR MIDDLE EAST PEACE PROCESS, AD INTERIM
United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has asked Max Gaylard ( Australia), a senior United Nations official with extensive experience in humanitarian and development coordination, to serve as Deputy Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process ad interim. Mr. Gaylard will also serve as United Nations Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in the Occupied Palestinian Territory. The Secretary-General has asked Mr. Gaylard to travel to the region this week.
Mr. Gaylard is currently serving as the Director of Mine Action with the Department of Peacekeeping Operations and has previously served as the Humanitarian and Resident Coordinator in Somalia and as the Deputy Humanitarian Coordinator in Iraq.
