Sixtieth Annual DPI/NGO Conference at headquarters 5-7 September;


Theme: ‘Climate Change: How It Impacts Us All’

 


More than 2,000 representatives of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and other civil society organizations from more than 80 countries will gather in New York for the sixtieth Annual DPI/NGO Conference.  The three-day event, entitled “Climate Change:  How It Impacts Us All”, will take place at United Nations Headquarters from 5 to 7 September 2007.


This year’s Conference will focus on the growing concerns associated with climate change and its profound and decisive impact on human well-being.  The Conference further aims to provide the necessary knowledge and inspiration for participants to carry their efforts forward.  It will offer a solutions-oriented approach designed to encourage participants to create individual action plans to address this global challenge.


Media Accreditation


Media representatives in possession of a valid United Nations grounds pass will be allowed to cover the Conference without additional accreditation.  All others must apply for accreditation with the Media Accreditation and Liaison Unit (MALU), fax:  1 212 963 4642.  For accreditation requirements and forms, please visit www.un.org/media/accreditation.


Grounds Passes


To obtain the required grounds passes to enter the United Nations compound, media representatives will need to go in person to the Media Pass and ID Office, located on the corner of 45th Street and 1st Avenue, Monday to Friday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Two pieces of photo identification (such as passport, national press credentials, driver’s license or state ID) are also required.  For further information, please call the office at tel.:  1 212 963 7164.
